Salone del Mobile.Milano proudly announces the first edition of the Euroluce International Lighting Forum, set to take place on April 10–11, 2025, within the Euroluce biennial pavilions as part of the 63rd edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
This forum will become a global platform for dialogue on key issues in lighting design, bringing together architects, designers, scientists, and innovators to redefine the role of light in contemporary environments.
A New Era for Euroluce: Transformation and the Future of Lighting
Euroluce, which underwent a complete exhibition concept transformation in 2023, continues its evolutionary journey with the launch of a biennial forum designed to enrich both the business and cultural offerings of the fair. This initiative establishes a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, research, and creative vision.
The "City of Lights" project, introduced in 2023, was integrated into the curated Corraini catalog and included in the ADI Index 2024, the annual selection by the Association for Industrial Design (ADI), reinforcing its importance and innovation within the industry.
The goal of the forum is to go beyond traditional commercial offerings, presenting lighting as a cultural and philosophical concept while exploring how it shapes space, emotions, and human experiences. Through a series of conferences, roundtable discussions, and workshops, participants will explore the interaction between light and architecture, light and well-being, and sustainable and integrated lighting solutions for both private and public spaces.
First Confirmed Participants: Leading Visionaries in Lighting Design
Among the first confirmed speakers are:
- DRIFT – An artistic collective specializing in experimental sculptures and interactive installations, exploring the parallels between natural and artificial structures.
- A.J. Weissbard – A renowned lighting designer and interdisciplinary artist, celebrated for using light as a storytelling and atmospheric tool in architecture, theater, and art.
- Marjan van Aubel – A leading innovator in solar-powered lighting, merging sustainable energy and innovative design to create accessible and integrated solar technology solutions.
Light as Emotion, Technology, and Sustainability
A major theme of the forum will be the holistic approach to lighting, where light is not merely seen as a functional element, but as a medium that shapes spatial experiences. Discussions will focus on topics such as sustainability, the use of digital technologies, and personalized lighting solutions.
A special emphasis will be placed on exploring innovative lighting models, which not only optimize energy efficiency but also positively impact psychological and physical well-being.
The Euroluce Forum as a Bridge Between Industry and Creativity
Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile.Milano, highlighted the importance of the forum for the future of lighting design: "After the major transformation of the Euroluce pavilions in the previous edition, we are proud to introduce another key innovation – a platform that presents lighting not only as an industrial sector but as a fundamental element of design, art, and architecture. Salone del Mobile has always been a space where ideas and visions find their voice, and this forum perfectly reflects its DNA."
Carlo Urbinati, President of FederlegnoArredo Assoluce, emphasized the crucial role of lighting in shaping spaces:
"Light not only makes things visible, but it also creates atmosphere, depth, and spatial perception, much like musical notes in a symphony. Lighting designers are increasingly becoming conductors of space, and this forum is conceived as a place where new ideas can be shaped and developed in synergy with architects, artists, and scientists."
An International Roadmap: Promoting the Forum Across Global Design Hubs
To ensure global reach and relevance, the forum was first presented in Munich as part of the Salone del Mobile 2025 international tour. It will then be introduced in Miami during Art Week on December 4, followed by stops in New York and Boston in late January, and later in February in other European cities.
Each of these events will provide additional insights into the innovations and conceptual directions that will be showcased in Milan, opening new perspectives and exploring how lighting can shape the future of design and urban living.
The Euroluce Forum as a New Meeting Point for the Design Community
With its ambitious program and interdisciplinary approach, the Euroluce International Lighting Forum represents a key milestone in redefining the role of light in design. This initiative is not just an extension of the trade fair but a cultural contribution to the global design community, fostering discussions and knowledge exchange that will shape future lighting paradigms.
