Salone del Mobile.Milano, the leading global event in the furniture and design industry, returns this year with an ambitious vision—"building worlds fit for the future."
From April 8 to 13, 2025, at Fiera Milano Rho, more than 2,000 exhibitors from 37 countries will showcase innovations, sustainable technologies, and artistic directions shaping contemporary design.
This 63rd edition of the fair emphasizes industrial manufacturing, sustainable innovation, and emotional intelligence, featuring inspirational names such as Pierre-Yves Rochon, Paolo Sorrentino, and Robert Wilson. The event will offer five days of dynamic lectures, discussions, and workshops, exploring the future of design, lighting, and digital integrations.
Industrial Manufacturing and Sustainable Innovation as Pillars of Design
Salone del Mobile is not just an exhibition space but a strategic accelerator of industrial excellence and innovation. This year, the fair will cover 169,000 square meters of completely sold-out exhibition space, including 32,000 square meters dedicated to the return of the Euroluce Biennial, bringing together more than 300 exhibitors from 25 countries.
Statistics confirm its significance for the global industry—the total revenue of Italian brands exhibiting at the fair reaches €9.2 billion, accounting for 34% of the national furniture sector's turnover. Additionally, foreign exhibitors contribute €6.98 billion, underlining the fair's growing role as a platform for internationalization and global expansion.
Salone del Mobile’s president, Maria Porro, emphasized its crucial role: "We closed the 2024 edition with a record 370,000 professionals from 146 countries. This year, Salone will once again open its doors in April with a fully booked exhibition space, despite global challenges. Our goal is to continuously improve the visitor experience, support exhibitors, and create innovative formats that enable new strategic alliances worldwide."
Culture and Design: A Multidisciplinary Approach to the Future
One of the key segments of Salone del Mobile 2025 is a strong cultural program, featuring three exclusive installations in Milan and within the exhibition space:
- Pierre-Yves Rochon – Villa Héritage (Pavilions 13-15) – a visionary approach to luxury interiors, blending past and future.
- Paolo Sorrentino – La dolce attesa (Pavilions 22-24) – an artistic interpretation of design through cinematic aesthetics and emotional space.
- Robert Wilson – Mother (Museo Pietà Rondanini, Castello Sforzesco) – a unique installation that reinterprets Michelangelo’s masterpiece through light and sound.
Additionally, the event will host Drafting Futures Talks and Round Tables, a multidisciplinary program where architects, designers, anthropologists, and technology innovators will discuss the future of interior spaces. Lectures from leading global experts in intelligent systems, biophilic design, artificial intelligence, and sustainable materials are expected.
SaloneSatellite: Young Talented Designers in the Spotlight
One of the most significant platforms for emerging designers, SaloneSatellite, will once again gather 700 designers under the age of 35 from 36 countries. Additionally, 20 international design schools and universities will participate, presenting innovative approaches under the theme "New Craftsmanship: A New World."
The goal of SaloneSatellite is to create a bridge between craftsmanship and modern design, allowing young talents to showcase their work to investors, brands, and architects. Maria Porro emphasized that this segment of the fair offers a unique opportunity for intergenerational knowledge exchange, shaping the future leaders of the industry.
Euroluce 2025: Light as a Key Design Element of the Future
Following the enormous success of "The City of Lights" at Euroluce 2023, this year marks the launch of the first edition of the Euroluce International Lighting Forum, bringing together 20 leading international experts in architecture, lighting, art, astronomy, and neurobiology.
The forum will take place on April 10 and 11 in Pavilion 2, with special curatorial contributions from Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto, creator of the Forest of Space Arena, an innovative venue for panels and workshops exploring the role of light in shaping ambiance and future spaces.
Carlo Urbinati, President of Assoluce FederlegnoArredo, highlighted the importance of the Euroluce Biennial: "Euroluce 2025 promises to be a top-tier edition, with a large number of foreign exhibitors and a growing interest in lighting design. At a time when European markets are facing challenges, Salone del Mobile remains a key platform for internationalization and industry networking at a global level."
Salone del Mobile and the City of Milan: A Synergy During Milan Design Week
As part of Milan Design Week, Salone del Mobile will expand across more than 100 exhibition spaces throughout the city, including showrooms of leading brands, museums, and cultural institutions. One of the most anticipated events will be Robert Wilson’s Mother at Castello Sforzesco, an artistic installation connected to Milan Art Week.
Giuseppe Sala, Mayor of Milan, emphasized the importance of Salone del Mobile for the city: "Milan and Salone del Mobile are inseparably linked. This event is not just a festival of design but an opportunity to shape the future of the industry and make Milan a global hub of innovation and creativity."
