Dolce & Gabbana Brings Sicilian Spirit to Shanghai with the First DG Caffè

Dolce & Gabbana, the renowned Italian luxury brand, has opened its first DG Caffè in Shanghai, blending the Sicilian spirit with sophisticated Italian culinary specialties...

This unique café, part of the brand's expansion strategy in China, captivates visitors with its vibrant palette of colors and Mediterranean-inspired design. The 200-square-meter space, located in the central Jing’an district, brings to life the traditional Carretto Siciliano motif, making the café a unique oasis inspired by Sicily, the favorite island of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.

The walls and interior of the DG Caffè reflect the motifs found on dishes for formal meals and casual afternoon teas. The brand’s cultural identity is also reflected in the dishes, including cakes shaped like Sicilian lemons and roses, along with tiramisu served in Moka pots decorated with Carretto Siciliano designs.

The café offers a variety of Italian specialties such as tomato-mozzarella, fine charcuterie, and pesto pasta, thanks to partnerships with Italian food producers. In addition to food, the DG Caffè also serves as a retail space where visitors can purchase products like Bialetti coffee machines, Di Martino pasta, Donnafugata wines, and Fiasconaro Panettone.

Alfonso Dolce, the brand’s CEO, stated: “We are honored to open the first D&G Café in Shanghai. We look forward to strengthening our presence in the Chinese market, using Italian cuisine to showcase the art of Italian craftsmanship and convey the Dolce & Gabbana philosophy of well-being as a lifestyle.”

Although this is Dolce & Gabbana’s first café, other luxury brands have also entered the Chinese market with similar concepts, such as Louis Vuitton’s The Hall, Maison Margiela Café in Chengdu, and Dior Café in Shanghai.
