Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch first appeared nine decades ago…
The legendary design of the twentieth century has now influenced the launch of the 1931 Cafe, an elegant new space, designed as part of the celebration of the ninetieth anniversary of the famous watch. The pop-up cafe personifies the Art Deco movement and uses elements of the typical Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso in its details. You don't have to work hard to guess that this unique café evokes the elegant interior of an ocean cruiser of the 1930s and all its glamor with the help of its monochrome interiors. As a perfect contrast, the black and white palette received a warm, complementary light, which makes the whole space look as if it belongs to another era, thanks to chrome, plush, glass and lacquered wooden elements.
The marble floor with geometric inlays contributes to the charisma of this cafe. From the chandelier created with the use of frosted glass that dominates the central part of the room, to the chairs that contain three metal elements like the echo of the three edges of the Reverso case, the café is grandiose and elegant, just like the watch that inspired it.
The soul of the café was created by the double holder of Pastry Chef of the Year, Nina Métayer, who created a special collection of cakes and pastries using the flavors of the valley. Ingredients such as berries, nuts and honey, combined with Swiss chocolate, will transpose guests into the magical culinary world.
In the end, we can say that this café will be open in Shanghai until August 15, while in the fall it will reopen its doors in a new location - in the heart of Paris.
