Dynamism and design come to life in an apartment located just steps from Bocconi University, thanks to HV8 Architettura Studio...
Milan, known as the heart of efficiency and positivity, has always been a symbol of energy and dynamism, as well as design and good taste. When these characteristic elements are transferred into the renovation of an apartment in a 1920s building, the result is a perfect combination of elegance and functionality.
HV8 Architettura Studio undertook the ambitious project of renovating an 80-square-meter apartment. While the result appears natural, it is actually the product of careful planning and skillfully captured suggestions from the building’s original architecture. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, leaving nothing to chance. The goal was to explore new ideas about space and light, evoking past styles and creating harmony between the exterior and interior.
The perfect balance between the lacquered white doors, whose frames reflect the Art Nouveau style of the building’s façade, and the herringbone parquet flooring – a classic synonymous with the refined aesthetics of times gone by – makes a special impression. The apartment, originally dark and neglected, is now illuminated by soft tones on the walls, such as gray and light blue, which help create a bright and inviting atmosphere.
The kitchen and dining room form a unified space, warm and welcoming, but above all functional for the needs of the owners, who view these spaces as ideal for social gatherings. The décor with a vintage flair evokes the style of the 1950s, synonymous with rebirth and change. Curved, soft lines appear from the central chandelier to the chairs, from the table to the mirror, from the sink to the carefully integrated faucets, creating a fascinating geometric continuity.
Another distinctive design element is the use of turquoise green in the bathroom, a color popular in the 1950s fashion, symbolizing elegance and harmony. This touch of color emphasizes the balance and simplicity of the shapes, materials, and colors used in the renovation.
Thanks to the intervention of HV8 Architecture, an otherwise bland apartment has gained an eclectic and creative character, transforming it into a space that is both relaxing and comfortable. As Adolf Loos stated, “the absence of ornament is a sign of spiritual strength.” This project is living proof of how simplicity and attention to detail can bring new life and character to a living space.
