Neom, the futuristic megaproject in Saudi Arabia, has unveiled the first phase of its revolutionary city, The Line, introducing an impressive 500-meter-high hidden marina.

This breathtaking destination will accommodate 200,000 residents, featuring 80,000 luxury residences and 9,000 opulent hotel rooms. At the PIF Private Sector Forum in Riyadh, Denis Hickey, Chief Development Officer of Neom, announced that the Hidden Marina will span 2.5 kilometers in length and 500 meters in height. As part of a fully integrated vertical city, built in modular 800-meter segments, the first phase will consist of three interconnected units, forming the core of this innovative urban space.

The total built-up area of the first phase will reach an astounding 21 million square meters, surpassing even the world’s most iconic architectural landmarks, such as the Burj Khalifa, which covers only 350,000 square meters.

A futuristic urban hub

The Hidden Marina is not just an architectural marvel but also a fully integrated urban center that will include residential units, hotels, commercial, and retail spaces. Additionally, the development will feature key infrastructure, including fire stations, schools, police, and security services, ensuring a self-sustaining city of the future.

“We are laying the groundwork for this ambitious urban revolution,” said Hickey. “Currently, over 140,000 workers are engaged in the construction of the project, including more than 5,000 specialists dedicated solely to Neom. This initiative attracts talent from over 100 countries, with 40% of the workforce comprising local Saudi talent.”

Neom’s investment in sustainability

Beyond its impressive urban development, Neom is investing heavily in sustainable projects. More than $140 billion is being allocated to key sectors such as energy, water supply, transportation, data, and communications, ensuring the city’s long-term vitality.

One of its most ambitious eco-friendly initiatives is the world’s largest green hydrogen plant, developed in collaboration with Acwa Power. This groundbreaking facility aims to revolutionize the global energy market, positioning Neom as a leader in sustainable innovation and the future of green energy.
