A true sensation for classic car enthusiasts was uncovered in Hamburg—50 classic Ferrari and Porsche models, untouched for 15 years and covered in dust, were found on the grounds of a closed tennis complex...
Benjamin David, founder of David Finest Sports Cars, heard about the collection and managed to persuade the owners to sell it to him—without even inspecting the cars.
Although purchasing such a large collection "blindly" was risky, fortunately, most of the cars are in good condition, with many imported from California. The collection includes 14 Porsche 911 models produced between 1974 and 1989, 28 Mercedes-Benz SL/SLC models produced between 1973 and 1989, and several Ferrari 328 GTS models from 1988.
David plans to sell the cars "as-is," with the layer of dust adding a sense of authenticity and history. He believes many potential buyers will appreciate this authenticity, though the vehicles may need minor restorations to be in perfect condition. The price for the most affordable Porsche 911 in this collection starts at around $40,000—a reasonable price for a classic Porsche in original condition.
How did these California cars end up in Germany? An entrepreneur imported them during the 2008 recession when wealthy Americans were forced to sell luxury cars due to the real estate market crash. His plan was to restore the cars in Eastern Europe at a lower cost and later sell them for a profit. However, high restoration costs prevented that plan, leaving the collection untouched. Fortunately, these classics will now get a new chance to return to the road.
