RED DOT AWART FOR BEST SMARTPHONE

Porsche Design receives three awards from Design Center Hanover...

The black Porsche Design P‘9981 Smartphone from BlackBerry® has received an award at the international Red Dot Award Product Design 2013. As well as receiving the award in the category of “Communication”, two other Porsche Design products received awards from the panel of international experts: the wristwatch series P‘6300 Flat Six and the luxury brand’s first women’s handbag, the TwinBag. More than 1,800 companies from 54 countries competed in this year’s Red Dot Award, submitting over 4,600 entries. The award ceremony will take place on July 1, 2013 in Essen.

“Today our philosophy is more in demand than ever before – and we are proud of this. Durability and sustainability are aspects which are increasingly appreciated,” says Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group. “We are particularly pleased by the award for the TwinBag. It demonstrates that functional design and women’s luxury products are not a contradiction.”

The Porsche Design products impressed the panel by their quality of design, workmanship, choice of materials and their high degree of innovation. Since the luxury brand was founded in 1972, Porsche Design has received more than 170 national and international awards.

Porsche Design revolutionizes women’s purses with a puristic new design and a novel carrying concept. Thus the TwinBag combines uncluttered elegance with timeless beauty. The bag’s unique feature is its ingenious handle concept: the handles can be adjusted to enable it to be carried either in the hand or as a shoulder bag. Thus the bag with its sporty modern business look is transformed in an instant into an elegant accessory for the evening.

The black version of the Porsche Design P‘9981 Smartphone, which was awarded the “Red Dot: Best of the Best” for its high design quality emphasizes the iconic essence of the product. The P’9981 has a forged stainless steel frame, its reverse side is encased in hand-wrapped leather, it has a specially developed keypad, and its crystal clear touch display completes the smartphone’s especially exclusive choice of materials.

Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the founder of Porsche Design, never thought about the merely decorative. For him, the aesthetics of a product resulted from regarding form and function as equal partners. The outstanding models of the Porsche Design P‘6300 Flat Six watch series embody this design philosophy. The three-hand watches P’6350 and P’6351 are available for the first time in two sizes, making them equally suitable to adorn a daintier lady’s wrist or a sturdier man’s.
