Renowned Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts proudly unveils Project Orion (YN 20750), launched on December 6 at the Oss shipyard.

This 50-meter aluminum hybrid superyacht embodies Dutch craftsmanship at its finest, setting new standards in luxury, performance, and sustainability. Scheduled for delivery in spring 2025, Project Orion promises unforgettable open-sea adventures.

Part of Heesen’s celebrated FDHF aluminum series, Project Orion features a 50-meter hull and hybrid propulsion. Its Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF), developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, paired with lightweight aluminum construction, ensures exceptional efficiency and performance at all speeds. Powered by two MTU 12V 2000 M61 (IMO III) engines, each delivering 600 kW, the yacht achieves a top speed of 16.3 knots. At 12 knots, it consumes just 98 liters of fuel per hour, while hybrid mode reduces consumption to an astonishing 45 liters per hour at 10 knots—remarkable for a vessel of its size and displacement (50 meters, 295 tons).

The exterior, designed by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, boasts a nearly vertical bow and floor-to-ceiling windows, offering stunning aesthetics and practical advantages. This streamlined design enhances stability and comfort when navigating waves. Inside, Cristiano Gatto’s interior design maximizes natural light and ocean views. The layout includes six cabins: a main-deck owner’s suite, a full-beam VIP cabin, and four additional cabins on the lower deck. Open side passages further enhance the sense of space and connection with the sea, making the yacht ideal for private use or charter.

According to Ruud van der Struijs, Heesen’s Commercial Director: "Project Orion offers a rare opportunity to own a superyacht embodying the unparalleled security and craftsmanship of Dutch shipbuilding. By summer, Orion will be ready to sail the oceans, setting a new standard of luxury." In the coming months, all onboard systems will undergo rigorous testing, culminating in sea trials in the North Sea by mid-February.

Project Orion seamlessly blends cutting-edge technology with timeless design, reaffirming Heesen’s dedication to innovation and craftsmanship. It stands as a testament to the pinnacle of yachting excellence, ready to deliver unparalleled experiences on the water.
