Theon Design, a British expert in transforming classic Porsche 911 models, has introduced its latest project—GBR005, a fully customized Porsche 911 Targa based on the 964 model.
This remarkable vehicle merges the timeless design of classic models with state-of-the-art technology and meticulous craftsmanship. GBR005 is a masterpiece of engineering and aesthetics, crafted from lightweight carbon fiber and powered by Theon’s most powerful engine to date—a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six producing 407 horsepower. The engine delivers not only incredible performance but also an unforgettable acoustic experience, especially when driving with the roof down.
Design and Craftsmanship
GBR005 showcases extraordinary attention to detail, with every element carefully designed and tailored to the client’s needs. The body is constructed from carbon panels, except for steel doors that provide additional side-impact protection. The car weighs just 1,190 kg, thanks to the use of carbon materials, making it 300 kg lighter than the base model.
Interior Elegance
The interior is a harmonious blend of luxury and functionality. The seats are hand-upholstered in premium licorice-colored semi-aniline leather, accented with tartan patterns and Alcantara details. Modern conveniences, including a Focal audio system and discreetly integrated smartphone holders, ensure comfort without compromising the car’s vintage appeal.
Innovative Engineering
One of GBR005’s standout features is Theon’s carbon-fiber chassis reinforcement system, which ensures coupe-level torsional rigidity. This innovation guarantees precise handling and dynamic performance, even during open-top driving. The system utilizes laminated “tubes” made from epoxy resin reinforced with Nomex honeycomb, ensuring minimal weight and maximum strength.
Performance Excellence
The GBR005 is powered by an upgraded version of Theon’s 3.8-liter engine, delivering 407 horsepower at 7,700 rpm and 385 Nm of torque. CNC-machined cylinder heads and enhanced valves ensure superior performance and reliability. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the engine offers a truly engaging driving experience with immediate throttle response.
Exterior Styling
The GBR005 is finished in striking Signal Yellow, a historic Porsche color from the 1970s, complemented by subtle gray stripes in Porsche Stein Grey Metallic. The car features 17-inch Fuchs wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, perfectly filling the elegantly sculpted wheel arches.
Pricing and Availability
Theon Design coupe prices start at £410,000, while the Targa version is available from £430,000. Each vehicle requires approximately 18 months to complete and is the result of close collaboration with the client. The price excludes the donor car, transport, and local taxes.
For enthusiasts of classic Porsche models, the GBR005 represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship and modern engineering, delivering an authentic analog driving experience without compromise.
