Set on 9,000 acres of pristine island, the Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua could be the perfect destination for active travellers and those looking to relax with an exotic cocktail in hand…
The resort has long been a favourite of couples and families, offering the perfect blend of amenities that families seek while maintaining the standard of luxury vacations that couples expect when traveling to Maui. The resort has recently undergone a $100 million renovation, during which nearly every element of the property has been touched in some way—from the guest rooms and restaurants to the pools and even the elevators, while every design choice emphasizes Hawaiian culture.
Upon arrival at the hotel, guests will be greeted by vibrant and colourful native flora and fauna, which spills over into the all-new lobby lanai, offering unobstructed views of Honokaahu Bay. The endless edged lanai is as mesmerizing as it is meaningful, paying homage to Hawaiian culture, telling the story of Kapalua.
The hand-carved wooden kapa plaques that adorn the space symbolize the six bays around the resort that were favoured by Hawaiian chiefs. The distinctive lighting fixtures are inspired by ancient fishing traps, which were designed to catch fish for royalty. With multiple seating areas, complete with fireplaces, the lanai offers a lively and inviting atmosphere from sunrise to sunset.
"The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua is a special place for our guests, just as Kapalua once was for the great Hawaiian chiefs," said Clifford Nae'ole, Hawaiian Cultural Advisor at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua. "Each element, no matter how big or small, has an important meaning in Hawaiian culture, and we hope our guests will enjoy them for both their beauty and their meaning."
Upon entering the sunlit lounge, guests are immediately transported to a tranquil indoor-outdoor retreat with sweeping views of majestic Molokai and the Bay Golf Course. Awash in calming hues with vibrant tropical colours that reflect the resort's natural surroundings, this exclusive hideaway is a desirable private escape for the resort's most discerning guests.
Embracing Maui's natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, the new guest rooms, suites and residences, all with private terraces, feature delicate sand tones and custom wood finishes, evoking a sense of calm and serenity. Azure blue and deep green accents reflect the stunning hues of the shimmering ocean and lush flora, while floor-to-ceiling windows welcome the island environment inside creating a unique sense of place that cannot be seen anywhere else.
Ritz-Carlton sophistication with a Hawaiian feel exudes an aesthetic that continues in the hallways with rich, dark wood finishes and colour accents from tropical-inspired carpets.
For guests looking to experience the beauty and wonders of Kapalua in an even more private setting, the resort will introduce The Fire Lanai Collection, a new category of premium rooms. Located on the ground floor of Napili Tower, each room will feature expansive shaded lanais, hammocks, sun decks and fire pits that invite guests to enjoy the best of Maui living indoors and outdoors.
The centerpiece of the sprawling outdoor resort is an expansive experience with a renovated 1,000 square meter pool. Inspired by the famous natural lava rock formation in front of the resort at Makaluapuna Point, the resort's three zero-edge pools connected by cascading waterfalls form a lily pad are surrounded by lush tropical flowers. The natural inspiration aims to extend the feeling of the beach from the shore to the property. Each individual pool has in-water lounges, allowing guests to relax while enjoying themselves, in addition to ample seating around each one.
For those individuals seeking an even more luxurious and private experience, the resort recently debuted seven custom luxury lodges and oasis beds. The new lodges, seating up to eight guests, in shades of blue and green, are inspired by the native flowers and natural beauty that surrounds the property. Luxury lodge guests are well looked after by a personal butler and have access to a range of indulgences including a tropical fruit platter and homemade banana bread, sunscreen, unlimited water and soft drinks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speaker, flat screen TV, display cabinet with fridge, ceiling fan and robes.
