Once upon a time, the creative madness of the Japanese contemporary artist, Takashi Murakami, met with the unusual methods of the Hublot brand and a completely black watch, and then the famous motif of a smiling world was born…
It certainly sounds like a happy ending, but we must tell you right away that this happiness spilled over into the second chapter, with the Hublot brand and Takashi Murakami reuniting to present their second joint model - Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow. At the same time, we can see some similarities in these two iterations, such as the smiling flower and the classic Hublot watch shape. What is completely different is the fact that Murakami went to a completely different extreme - unlike the completely black model, this one carried all the colours of the rainbow.
The Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow watch boasts a new technique that has allowed it to have a transparent back. The lively watch again uses the characteristic features of the Classic Fusion model and got a case with a diameter of 45 mm, which is cut from sapphire crystal, which is a technological endeavour of the Hublot brand. The transition from a completely black to a coloured watch, with a stylish touch of transparency, is worth the applause. The dial shows twelve bright petals, which received a dose of life thanks to 487 rubies, pink sapphires, amethysts, blue sapphires, tsavorites, as well as yellow and orange sapphires together.
A real treat for the owners of this model comes in the form of an ingenious spring system specially developed by Hublot engineers, thanks to which the petals rotate under the crystal of this watch, bringing life to Takashi Murakami's smiling flower motif. As the artist himself says: “The partnership that exists between me and the Hublot brand has allowed me to express my creativity through something that is a new medium for me. The skills of watch technicians have opened up new fields of opportunity for my inspiration. The result is this new watch in all the colours of the rainbow.”
A similar sentiment was shared by Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe: "Our cooperation with Takashi Murakami leads us to new realms of expression that are still unexplored by the watchmaking world. In this work, the artistic creation and knowledge of our company are intertwined to create a work of art that you can wear on your wrist.”
Finally, we can say that this model will be produced in a limited number of 100 models, each of which will cost 106,000 dollars.
